ANTIMATTER PROPULSION

Welcome to ANTIWORLD

In this blog, we will discuss, how we can use antimatter for deep space exploration.

The concept of Antimatter was pioneered in 1928, but still, we are not able to experience the usage of antimatter this is due to the complexities and high energy requirements in producing the Antimatter. If all these complexities were solved we can extend our space missions to go out of the solar system.

Till date production antimatter details
1. FremiLabs produces around 15 nanograms.
2. CERN produced around 1 nanogram.
3. DESY produced around 2 nanograms.

If we mix all antimatter made by humans it is not even sufficient to boil a cup of tea, but there is a scope of storing the antimatter using magnetic traps. When matter and antimatter come together they annihilate and releases an enormous amount of energy. The main aim is to store and release antimatter into matter in repeated intervals and control the energy produced by it.

Fig: 1 Propulsion system using antimatter by Positron Dynamics
Fig: 2 Fuel cycle system of Antimatter Propulsion
Fig 1 is the conceptual visualization made by Positron Dynamics, it uses Krypton-79 to release the positron. The velocity of the released positron will be very high to slow down the fast-moving positron it uses moderator array. To catalyze the process dense deuterium will be used and again the fast neutron is trapped in the neutron capture and the charged particle will leave through large magnetic fields nozzle which produces thrust. The captured neutron will go back to the positron source, so the process will continue and enormous thrust rates are produced.

This video describes the fuel cycle system using positrons.
That is it for this blog
